Housing planning permissions up

Latest stats show planning permissions for new homes have gone up 60% on the same period a year ago. The numbers permitted are said to be the highest since the beginning of 2008.

It remains to be seen whether this is a blip or does reflect a real change in direction in the historically low levels of house building in recent years. The increase could be a result of the government’s policy statement, the NPPF, which was published a year ago. However, based on the decisions we have seen, it does not look as though the NPPF has quite opened the flood gates for planning permissions.
